December 19th, 2023 will go down in breakbeat history when DJ LIME BIKE played live inside the KINDRED storefront for the first and last time. London folks witness from a two panel glass display the Gen4 Lime e-bike DJ breakbeat at a skill level never seen before in recent history. When the set finished the DJ popped a wheelie into the shadows leaving behind a legend shrouded in mystery.
After the set a SoundCloud mix was released to massive response and the underground scene soon started camping out at KINDRED overnight just for the chance of DJ LIME BIKE’s next appearance. Then the unthinkable happened the genius of DJ LIME BIKE vanished – never to be heard or seen again.
Outside KINDRED we reached out to a raver passing through the shop for a quote; “I swear I saw ‘em [DJ LIME BIKE] in the back alley parked up the other day. Near my flat. I swear it. But then I approached it.. you know hoping for a ride. it was locked out under a reservation.” The fellow dressed in black techware continued, “Unable to really verify em I left but as I turned the corner the sound of breakbeat echoed from behind me, I quickly ran back to check but when I looked [DJ LIME BIKE] was gone. I swear on my mother.”
Soon others spoke of seeing a mysterious lime bike locked under reservation then leaving it behind but vanishing as soon as the sound of breakbeat hit the air. After a week of the same story a new tale broke the mold; a well known DJ took a mysterious green bike for a ride and soon after was filled with so much inspiration that when they went back to the DAW a new hit was released making it to the BBC RADIO 1 top track of the new year. Soon pro and amateur DJs alike all over London were looking for the bike with the magic touch. Then the worst news imaginable happened. A new generation of Lime was released, e-scooters, and soon e-bikes became rarer to find.
